Elimination of Renters Insurance

Aloha Valued OMC Resident,

In 2015 the Department of Defense announced a major change that affected your Basic Allowance for Housing.  The Fiscal Year 2015 National Defense Authorization Act eliminated Renter’s Insurance as a component of BAH. As a result, Ohana Military Communities communicated that we would continue to provide personal/liability insurance coverage until February 1, 2017, which was extended until February 14, 2018.

Please be advised, as of February 15, 2018, we will no longer be providing you with Renters Insurance, meaning if you elect to have insurance you will be responsible for it on your own.  We encourage all residents to carry insurance which will cover your personal property and any additional property or liability insurance from all injury, loss, damages and liability from fire, water, theft, or any other cause.
